Real Lawyering

I met with him last night. He has been practicing law since 1975, two years before I was born. I had taken him my best writing sample, a Reply Appellate Brief, which the appellate court cited to and commented on, and published, and you can google my name and find it online...

After reading it, he asked me to send him other writings I have done. Writings on discovery motions, motions to compel answers to late discovery. I was perplexed and I think he could see it on my face.

So he explained: "I want to know your ability to argue mundane things...'cause...really...that's what real lawyering is all about"
